John
Calipari, Quick, without researching it, name seven
coaches that won 300 games in their first 13 years as head coaches
at the NCAA Division I level. One of the most accomplished
basketball coaches in collegiate history, John Calipari’s foot
print can be found on courts throughout the country. While serving
as head coach at UMass from 1988-1996, John led his players to
five straight NCAA conference titles; he's won over 70 percent of
his games as a collegiate head coach, and since taking over as
head coach at the University of Memphis in 2000, he's won over 71
percent of his games. But John has an even higher winning
percentage in another area of collegiate athletics -- graduating
student-athletes. Since stepping foot on the Memphis campus, 12 of
15 seniors that have played for Calipari earned their bachelor's
degrees. Author of Refuse to Lose, John is one of this country's
most sought after sports and motivational speakers. Coach Cal puts
his courtside skills to work for business teams to develop winning
strategies. His lecture topics include: " Team Building
;" "Leadership Development;" "Management
Strategies" and "Performance Enhancing Techniques."
He was inducted into the National Italian American Sports Hall of
Fame in 2004.
